This was an 8th grade lesson which I have also taught at the high school level. Students conducted research on a specific social justice cause that they were interested in such as environmental pollution, animal or human rights, or social causes. After students selected their cause, they furthered their research by selecting an activist that supports their cause. Students concluded their research by drawing an activist portrait using different types of line.
